As a part of our work we have been making more and more sites KachingleX enabled. For those who do not know about KachingleX or KX, it is a browser extension that makes it possible to Kachingle any website that the user wants. For KX to work, the site should be first recommended by the users (if it is not already KX enabled). Once the recommendation is made, the community managers at Kachingle make the sites KX enabled. As part of our work, we are also the community managers for Kachingle. We add sites based on user recommendation and also take a proactive approach by adding more and important sites that users are likely to Kachingle.

So far we have enabled KX on more than a hundred websites in a period of 2 weeks. These sites include personal blogs, sports blogs, news portal and non-profit organization. While adding these sites, we encountered some problems because of the URL structure. KX works based on the URL and some of the websites have very complicated URL structure to categorize the content of the websites. One such example would be SB Nation. It is a blog network for sports and it has more than 300 blogs for different sports. Its contents are divided by sports, teams and region. So, the big question here was as to how this site should get its medallion. After much discussion, we decided that the best approach would be to put medallion on the main website and on the various important categories. For SB Nation we put medallion based on the cities and created new medallions for each team blog. The rationale behind this was to have KX in most of the website’s content. Also, from the user’s perspective this is a good way to ensure the right recipient of payments since users are usually loyal to their regional sports or particular team.

The way we added medallion on SB Nation is related to the philosophy argued by the marketing team. The philosophy is about the priority of adding sites. As community managers, we would like to divide a comprehensive website into smaller sections, which help users support their favorite part. On the other hand, we are not able to add medallion on every sites in the world. It seems that the team should reach more sites and add medallions within less time. This directly elicits the team’s further discussion in the strategy of adding medallions on sites.

We have also been working on making it easier for community managers to add KX on new sites. With new community managers coming in and extensive training going on, our team has been keeping track of the complications in KX enabling process and trying to make it as convenient as possible. We are soon planning to make a video detailing the process of adding KX on a site. So far our work is going great and we hope to accomplish more in the coming weeks. We are also forming our own strategy to add sites, which will be discussed in our next blog.
