We’ve just pushed a new version of the Kachingle Medallion for WordPress plugin that adds the ability to use multiple medallions (either different IDs or the same one) on a single page. The plugin includes a widget for use in sidebars and other dynamic containers plus a custom template tag and shortcode.
Update: Version 1.3 adds a custom template tag and shortcode for Per Author Named Medallions!.
As a result of these changes there’s no longer a Settings page for the plugin. Instead you store the same information in the Widget or pass as parameters to the template tag and shortcode.
We’ll be adding the multiple different ID Medallions use case to this blog soon as a technology demonstration. The key issue is implementing a method for determining which Medallions go on a page. Here’s one common case:
- The blog overall has a Medallion and each author has his or her own as well
- You’d like to display the blog and author Medallions on post pages
- Accordingly, the blog needs to store the author Medallion IDs
Once implemented I’ll update this post.
